Helpful Information

Accommodation

The conventional beds in a property will comfortably accommodate the number of people stated (except where two figures are shown ie 14/18 where sofa beds and/or z beds may be provided). Other facilities, such as sitting and dining room seating, might not comfortably accommodate more than the lower number and due to space constraints there may not always be sufficient seating in one room for the whole party.

Beds/Bed Linen/Towels

All bed sizes are standard (4’6” double and 3’ single) unless otherwise stated. Pillows and duvets are provided. Linen is not provided unless otherwise stated and guests must therefore provide bottom sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases, towels, tea towels and bath mats. Linen hire services are available – please call for details.

Character Properties

Many of the properties are older cottages dating back to the last century or earlier. It is important to remember before booking your holiday in one of these properties that part of the charm of such properties are the characteristically low ceilings doorways and beams. They often have steep narrow stairs and because of low or sloping ceilings, may have limited clothes hanging facilities. Many were also built before the introduction of damp proof courses and cavity insulation. These points are particularly important to note if your party has any elderly or very young members. Thatched roofs and beams can attract spiders and cobwebs reappear very quickly after being removed. We feel having made these points, however, that these are all aspects that add charm and character.

Cleaning

With regret, because of the high number of letting properties in Dartmouth, and restricted number of cleaners all properties must be cleaned by guests prior to departure. If you require any help during your stay we can arrange cleaning for you (at an additional charge).

Cots & Highchairs

Cots and highchairs can be hired where they are not provided at the property. Please call for details. If they are provided please advise Dartmouth Holiday Homes that you will be using them, so that we can ensure they are accessible.

Driving in Dartmouth

Visitors should be aware that part of the character of Dartmouth is the numerous narrow and one way streets. Above Town, in particular, is very narrow in places and only wide enough for small cars. In addition, the Devon lanes can be very narrow (single track with passing places on occasion) and winding, with high road sides covered with vegetation.

Ferries

The Lower Ferry embarks from Bayards to Kingswear. The Higher Ferry embarks from Dart Marina to Kingswear. Both operate, weather conditions permitting, all year round.

Gas, Electricity and Oil

Included in the rental price with no additional charge unless stated.

Local Services

Include linen/cot hire, catering, sailing/windsurfing tuition and boat hire. Please call for details.

Mobile Phones

Please be aware that the mobile telephone reception in the area can be poor.

Parking

Where available, is stated in property details. Street parking is sometimes possible outside the town centre but this often causes problems for local residents - there are restrictions from May to September. As some may know, Dartmouth is not an easy place in which to park! Some property owners provide car park season tickets (deposit payable) for the benefit of the guests. These do not guarantee a space, but do enable long term parking significantly cheaper than short term rates. NB: Mayors Avenue car park is closed to vehicles during the Royal Regatta period and visitors are asked to use the town Park and Ride. Car park season permits (where provided by a property) are accepted at the Park and Ride allowing free parking and transportation to the town.

Pets

PETS ARE ONLY ACCEPTED WHERE CLEARLY STATED IN THE PROPERTY DETAILS (charges apply, see individual property details for information) – please bring bedding, bowls etc, and do not allow your pets in the bedrooms or on any furniture. Pets must not be left unaccompanied in any property and must be kept under control at all times. Guest’s pets/visiting pets are not allowed in the premises of ‘Non Pet’ properties nor across the boundary of the property. This restriction is often due to allergy related problems and must be strictly adhered to.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in any property and we appreciate your cooperation in accordance with this, thank you.
